Programs that offer lower Tipping Rates are sometimes Pilot Programs with final determination which need to be evaluated over a period of time for there percentages of reusable material and cost effectiveness of in proccesing

Waste company opens doors in Grimsby

Advantage Waste Systems planning fundraiser for Saturday event

A new waste collection company has opened its doors in Grimsby and is already feeling a warm reception from the community.

Advantage Waste Systems, located at 231 South Service Rd. in Grimsby, opened its doors in the community about five months ago, after moving from its Stoney Creek location. The business, a full-service waste company that offers a wide variety of services from bulk waste services to recycling, enjoys the new site.

“We’ve had a great reception here since we moved into the new building,” said Buster Battams, operations manager, noting the business has received a fair bit of walk-in traffic, something that rarely occurred in the Stoney Creek location. The location of the building, with its visibility and proximity to the QEW, along with the ability to service their fleet in-house, made the Grimsby property a good fit for the business, which serves Halton, Hamilton and Niagara.

Advantage offers front-end, roll-off, and recycling services, as well as waste containers, for commercial and residential customers. The business also offers a Bulk Boyz waste system, where they will help customers remove bulk waste from their garage, basement, backyard. They do all the lifting and remove the waste.

“It’s great for people who have a busy lifestyle or who can’t do the work themselves,” said Battams.
Advantage is also a registered Ontario Electronic Stewardship collector. The business is able to receive electronic and white goods from residents, and will be holding an electronics and white goods collection event, along with a charity barbecue for Hemophilia Ontario, on Saturday, May 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the new location.

Residents are able to drop off any unwanted electronic waste such as TVs, computer monitors and stereo equipment, along with white goods such as fridges, stoves, washers and dryers, free of charge. A full list of accepted items is available on the company’s website, www.advantagewastesystems.com.

“All materials collected will get recycled,” said Battams, noting the business will provide an alternative so residents don’t have to haul the materials up to the regional landfill site.

The staff at Advantage are looking forward to meeting more of the community on Saturday. All WEEE material may be dropped off at our Collection Site at 231 South Service Rd West, Grimsby Ontario. There is NO CHARGE to drop off these materials.

Advantage Waste Systems has launched a new FREE Program for the Collection of WEEE material.

All acceptable OES WEEE material is delivered to a Local OES approved Processor for destruction.
